Abstract

Translation is a process of rendering meaning, ideas, or messages of a text from one language to other language. English as a foreign language in Indonesia makes Indonesian students have difficulties such as associated with meaning, structure and grammatical. Students problem with it also contributes in giving an error in translation. The error analysis to be taken is about the branch of linguistics that is morphology and phonology. The purpose of this research are to know the translation error analysis and to know the factor that influence it. The kind of research is descriptive research. Data collection are used observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis that use is qualitative data analysis. The result of the research, there are two kinds of translation error analysis focuses on morphology and phonology. From the data actually the students made errors in the order of phonology, they are difficult to determine phonemes and when writing the word plural. The factors that influence of the translation error analysis are flips the word which caused them confusion when working on the translation, unusually to translate, unknown about the way to translate, limited time, unknown to read of the word, lacked of vocabulary and grammar, similar word or variation language, laziness, and they prefer to look to their friends answer.
